Last year, Safe Passage's counselors answered more than 2,000 hotline calls in addition to assisting 225 local women through individual counseling, group sessions, and our legal program—and 33 women and 54 children lived in our emergency shelter.
Safe Passage must be able to continue to provide these essential services for women, children, and families in need:
$20 Emergency funds for a woman to purchase groceries or diapers
$45 A one-hour counseling session for a woman seeking help for the first time
$80 One weekly drop-in group session for survivors of domestic violence
$100 An hour of ASL interpreting for a deaf survivor's counseling session
$135 Three sessions for children who have witnessed domestic violence
$500 A month of on-call advocacy for victims of domestic violence police calls
$800 Two weeks of coverage for our 24-hour crisis hotline
$1,400 One week of overnight and weekend staffing in the shelter
When your sister, your neighbor, or your best friend finds herself in a domestic violence situation—if you yourself are in that situation—Safe Passage must be here. We must be able to answer your call, meet with you, help you strategize and find a way to end the violence. No one deserves to be hit, threatened, controlled or belittled—and everyone deserves help to find a way to change that situation. At Safe Passage, we are the agents of change.
Safe Passage is in a uniquely challenging time and we are developing new strategies for sustaining our work and service to the community. As we increase our fundraising efforts, individual contributions now represent more than a quarter of our annual budget. Please join us in these efforts by making a substantial investment now—toward a future in which we together reject violence.
Safe Passage is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and most contributions are fully tax-deductible.
